Keyboard with blue archive buttonThe OSCAR Program Office will perform system archiving to prepare for next year's law clerk and appellate staff attorney hiring. This is done once a year to make room for new applicants, positions, and applications--and to help the site run faster. Here is how it works.

When Does System Archiving Start?

System archiving will begin on September 17, 2024, so you have plenty of time to prepare. Archiving will occur in four sessions, and the OSCAR system will be fully functional during each of these sessions, with no downtime for users.

What Happens During System Archiving?

Over the four archiving sessions, the OSCAR Program Office will:

  • Delete existing archived and unused accounts (except for judge and staff attorney office accounts) and applications,
  • Delete email messages sent through OSCAR prior to January 1, 2023,
  • Archive accounts that have not registered activity since the beginning of the year (except for judge and staff attorney office accounts), and
  • Archive positions that were listed as filled or expired as of December 31, 2023 along with their associated applications. Note: Archived applications will still be accessible to judges and staff attorney offices.

More Information

The OSCAR Program Office recently sent direct communication to all participating judges, staff attorney offices, court unit administrators, and law school administrators. These communications included detailed archiving timelines, instructions on downloading information and running reports, and illustrated infographics detailing the archiving process.
